Der langjährige Amerika-Korrespondent des Berliner "Tagesspiegel", Robert von Rimscha, legt nach Die Kennedys - Glanz und Tragik eines amerikanischen Traums nun eine weitere Familiengeschichte vor. Es geht um die "schießwütigen Cowboys" (Heide Simonis) aus Texas, die Bushs. Hauptakteure sind der 41. Präsident der USA, George Bush, dessen Sohn George W. Bush, 43. Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten, und -- nicht zu vergessen -- Barbara Bush, die Frau von Bush senior. Vater und Sohn Bush verbindet, dass eigentlich keiner damit gerechnet hat, dass sie den einflussreichsten Posten in der Weltpolitik bekommen würden.
Auch bei von Rimscha wird Kritik am Gebaren der letzten Supermacht deutlich. Anders aber als Politiker wie Simonis oder Kommentatoren hierzulande bemüht sich der Autor, das starke Ressentiment gegen das Amerika der Bushs nicht zu pflegen. Diese Form der Annäherung macht das Buch für alle interessant, die mehr erfahren wollen über eine Familie, die sich zunächst in die wirtschaftliche Elite des Landes hocharbeitete, um dann mehr und mehr ins Politikgeschäft einzusteigen. Die Bushs bietet keine spektakulären Enthüllungen. Das Buch ist auch kein Frontalangriff aus dem "alten Europa". Robert von Rimscha ermöglicht einfach einen interessanten Einblick in die Familiengeschichte der Bushs. Eine Familie, von der man, unabhängig vom Ausgang der nächsten Präsidentschaftswahlen, sicher noch hören wird. --Carsten Hansen
