Description

A gap has long persisted in electric power engineering education and industry as distribution system engineering has typically taken a backseat to the more exotic areas of transmission system modeling and analysis. This text fills that gap. It defines the major components of a distribution system from the bulk power substation to the customer's meter and clarifies the concept of "load." The author develops models of the various components comprising a distribution system, ranging from the very approximate to the most accurate. He includes the derivation of all models and includes many numerical examples demonstrating the use of models in solving typical problems.
