Elements of Functional Analysis (The New university mathematics series)

Description

This book provides an elementary introduction to the ideas and methods
of functional analysis. The prerequisites for reading it are a willingness
to accept the language of modern mathematics and a knowledge of
elementary real analysis and linear algebra such as is usually obtained
from courses given in the first year of English Universities and the second
year of Scottish Universities. It will prove useful to undergraduate and
postgraduate students whose courses include some functional analysis
and also to some mathematicians in other fields of both pure and
applied mathematics who need to acquire a knowledge of functional
analysis. Almost all the material has been used by the authors in under-
graduate and postgraduate (M.Sc.) courses given in the Universities of
Newcastle upon Tyne and Dundee.
