Geschäftsprozesse (GP) beschreiben, wie Produkte und Dienstleistungen über die Ausführung von Aktivitäten oder Vorgängen hergestellt werden. Die Struktur der GP stellt heute wichtiges firmenspezifisches Know-how dar: ihre Effizienz und Effektivität definiert die Wettbewerbsposition der Unternehmen im Informationszeitalter. Das Buch zeigt konkret und systematisch wie Prozesse konzipiert, erfasst, geändert oder optimiert werden können. Dabei reicht das Spektrum der Modellierung von neuen Prozessen, für die es keine Daten gibt, bis zu Ist-Prozessen, die über eine sorgfältige Daten- und Strukturerfassung quantifiziert und dann optimiert und restrukturiert werden. Die Ausführungen zum Thema werden immer durch einfache Beispiele und Übungen veranschaulicht.
