My own Personal Nightmare… (renting, aghhhhh!)
Just nine years ago, my wife and I were renting a tightly cramped, old, smelly, top floor apartment at a busy end of town. We stayed there for as short a period as possible and quickly looked for our escape.
Renting stinks enough as it is. Why add “cramped, smelly, old, or top floor” to the list?
From there we moved into a duplex in a more desirable area, but it also had its share of problems. (What rental that you know of doesn’t? I can’t think of any.)
* Dated carpets,
* Loud neighbors,
* No storage space,
* Our landlord living next door watching our every move,
* Pluming problems every other Friday,
* Nothing getting fixed in a timely fashion,
* The list goes on-
And worst of all …
… We were still watching our hard earned money slip out the window and vanish into thin air every single month we made a rent payment.
Sick to our stomachs of being stuck in this Rent Trap, my wife and I desperately wanted to buy a house of our own. We had great jobs, descent income, a young family, and tons of dreams.
We wanted to start with a simple home in a good area with a large fenced back yard. We needed to be in the perfect school district for our young children. It would be our first home. A “stepping stone” home for us.
We new what we wanted and quite frankly we wanted it immediately. BUT …
… despite our hopes and dreams of investing in our future by having our own home, we found ourselves stuck in “The Rent Trap”.
* We had No Established Credit.
* My new business ventures provided No “Verifiable Income” History.
* We had saved NOTHING in the Bank for a down payment.
* And we were still “Naked and wet behind the ears” in the dance we call LIFE.
* Only 21 years old and newly married with a child on the way … YIKES!
Could the odds get any more stacked against us?
No bank in town would have loaned us grocery money! We truly had no credit!
Let me cut through the long version of my story and get to the point.
I was determined to find a way to buy a home.
I decided that if I couldn’t use a traditional lender,
then I would find a creative way
to buy the home I WANTED …
… without using any of my own credit.
AND… I DID!
Once I bought that first home with none of my own credit and with none of my own cash, my wife and I did it again with an investment home a few months later. A few months after that we found another, then another, and so it went on.
Two years after that momentous day of our first home purchase, we sold our first home, and with the equity we had built up in that property, we were able to build ourselves a great home in a perfect neighborhood with a huge equity position.

What I had learned during that 2 year of my life has turned into a national sensation, as other have clammored to discover how I did what I had done.
