Apr¨¨s avoir pass¨¦ son adolescence en ¨¦thiopie, Hugo Pratt revient en Italie en 1943. En 1945, il cr¨¦e le Groupe de Venise, dessine L'As de pique, puis s'installe en Argentine. Il y rencontre Hector Oesterheld avec qui il con?oit plusieurs s¨¦ries. Durant les ann¨¦es cinquante et soixante, il partage son temps entre l'Europe et l'Am¨¦rique du Sud, o¨´ il enseigne ¨¤ l'¨¦cole d'Art panam¨¦ricaine de Buenos Aires. En 1967, il signe La Ballade de la mer sal¨¦e, la premi¨¨re aventure de Corto Maltese. Publi¨¦ dans d'innombrables revues en France et en Italie ¡ª Linus, Alter Alter, Corto, Pif, Pilote, (¨¤ suivre), etc. ¡ª, Hugo Pratt a aussi donn¨¦ naissance ¨¤ Fort Wheeling ou aux Scorpions du d¨¦sert (1969-1987). Associ¨¦ ¨¤ Milo Manara, il publie L'¨¦t¨¦ indien en 1983 et El Gaucho en 1991. Auteur de romans et d'essais, il a aussi ¨¦t¨¦ acteur dans Mauvais Sang, de Leos Carax.
