Hydraulics of pipeline systems

Description

Hydraulics of Pipeline Systems begins with a review of basic hydraulic principles, with emphasis on their use in pumped pipelines, manifolds, and the analysis and design of large pipe networks.

After the reader obtains an understanding of how these principles are implemented in computer solutions for steady state problems, the focus then turns to unsteady hydraulics. These are covered at three levels:
- Situations in which inertial forces and elastic effect can be ignored-quasi-steady solutions
- Situations that include inertial forces and techniques for solving systems of equations that describe time-dependent flows and pressures in large networks
- Situations in which time-dependent changes are really rapid-true transient analyses that also include the elastic effect of liquid compression and pipe expansion
