This book changed the way I thought about myself. I will never be the same again. There are so many helpful things in this book that I can't list them all, but what helped me the most was the realization that I am not a freak. Sounds simple, but I believed that I was, ever since high school. Now I know that I am completly normal, and life is full of possibilities. If you are afraid of people, think that your coworkers are thinking bad thoughts about you, can't even approach someone of the opposite sex, or are just shy, you need to get this book. If you have low self-esteem and are lonely, then read this book, it really helps!
I've been battling social anxiety, depression, loneliness, and low self-esteem issues for years to avail. I used to think it was normal but eventually realized it was a problem and sought help. Then, just a few days ago, I was talking to a counselor who I’ve been seeing regularly for over 2 months, and he told me about this book. I've read the first 7 chapters and this is the best self-help book that I've ever read. This book is giving me a better outlook on life and helping me battle the negative thoughts that have run through my mind for years

This book gave me tools I needed to change negative self-defeating thoughts into powerful life changing thoughts. Dr. Burns's writing style is precise, clear and funny. I laugh out loud as I saw how ridiculous self-defeat thoughts are. I have read self-help books for over 20 years; the Intimate Connection is the only book that as shown my how to truly help myself. After reading and applying the first 5 chapters, I now can stamp out any negative thoughts that automatically pop into my mind. After applying Dr. Burns's techniques, I had the best weekend of my live ever, and on Monday morning I got a called for an ex-boyfriend who begged to see me again. Dr. Burns said this would happen! My life keeps on getting better and better everyday.
