Présentation

L'origine du pain d'épice remonte à une époque lointaine, au XIIe siècle déjà, on utilisait des recettes a base de miel et d'épices. Très vite, les cuisiniers se sont amusés à modeler cette friandise en formes variées qui ont fait le succès de la fameuse Foire au pain d'épice, célèbre maintenant sous l'appellation "Foire du Trône" à Paris. On trouve encore cette tradition dans de nombreux pays européens ou des pains d'épice découpés et décorés sont offerts à l'occasion des fêtes de la Saint-Nicolas, de Noel, etc. Ils étaient soit dégustés soit conservés et, dans ce cas, servaient de décorations pour la maison.
