Description
For the past month, I started building my own CCM lab here on VMware mostly because I wanted to work on a few things on my laptop. Made some stupid mistakes along the way and hopefully this thread will help the newbies from avoiding my mistakes.
Like many, I started by downloading CCM 4.3 from this thread:
http://www.sadikhov.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=126204&mode=linearplus (which gave a link to this thread:

Keep in mind one important thing: The above files is JUST for the Windows 2003 Hacked operating system ONLY.
You MUST have your OWN DISKS FOR CCM 4.3 YOURSELF!!! The files you download simply allow you to bypass the hardware check on a non-MCS hardware platform.
Upon installation, you have to supply your own 4.3 disks!!!!
As to where to download 4.3 files, I haven't found any from this forum (or online for that matter) This thread looks promising but I haven't done it myself because the files seem too long and I don't plan to install CCM 5.x at the moment.

I have successfully managed to download only two versions from this forum:
1) 4.1.3
2) 6.01
Here is the link to 4.1.3

(thanks Sureshol for uploading!!)
However, if you install this version, there is one mistake: the serial password on the README files is incorrect. It says
"
CD key if required BT00-VQES-CCJV-IEBI "
The correct password is CCJU not CCJV
It is corrected in the post but not the readme file.
Another thing: when you prepare your VMware, make sure you set the host operating system to Win95, NOT Win2000 or anything else.
I made this mistake as well.
After you install this on Vmware, make sure to install VmwareTools to smooth out the interface & video drivers.
Here is the link to 6.0.1

Because of my limited resources from where I'm living right now (not in a country that speaks English), I don't have any access to 4.3 disks (if someone has a torrent or rapidshare thread, that would be greatly appreciated.
One final thing: my older version of VMware workstation 4 sits on my older box which runs on an AMD Athlon processor. Apparently, there is some hack you need to edit on the VMware file by editing the config files. The problem was solved when I tossed out Workstation 4 and installed VMware Server 1.0.4 Build 56528. I recommend you do the same.
One last question to others that might know: is there really much of a difference from 4.1.3 vs. 4.3 that the Cisco lab exam might test us on?
According to Wikipedia, the only difference between 4.2 is:
Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2 runs on Windows 2000 and includes new PABX features over 4.1(3) (namely logging into hunt groups and call-forward on no coverage (so, if you forward a line to a hunt group, and the hunt group is unavailable or busy, you can forward calls somewhere else); Also introduced was Call Forward Unregistered, so that if you called a remote site, but the WAN link was down, you could automatically forward that call to the PSTN. This version does not include SIP end-point support.
And the 4.3 just simply allows you to install it on win2k3 instead.
So if one is preparing for the cisco voice lab, is it really necessary to upgrade to 4.3 or is 4.1.3 fine?
Good luck to all!
