Beginning with the fundamentals of carpentry work within a domestic construction setting (tools required, their care and proper use, interpretation of technical drawings) the book goes on to cover a wide range of first-fixing operations (i.e. those tasks that are to be completed prior to plastering work takes place on site). The various second fixing tasks are then also outlined in detail. Each chapter covers the subject in great detail with step-by-step illustrations and text, to provide the reader with a complete picture of the sequence of work required to carry out each job.

The second edition has been updated throughout to take into account recent changes to the Building Regulations, with new material addressing Working at Height Regulations, Stairs, and Glass & Glazing (including the use of safety glass). New topics are covered which ensure this book is fully up to date with current industry best practice and technological developments, and new chapters have been incorporated to address Site Levelling & Setting Out, and Designing and Installing Fitted Kitchens.
