Increasing consolidation in the international aviation industry has lead to the loss of yet another famous name when in early 2001, the last of the McDonnell Douglas MD-11s was rolled out. This title is a fitting tribute to the last of a long and famous line of aircraft to carry the McDonnell Douglas name.
The MD-11 was a follow-on to the DC-10 and proved less successful in terms of numbers produced.
