He sits you down and has you follow along as he translates sentences in english to proper german and explains the things you need to know about what means what. After you've listened to the program several times you will start anticipating the german translation, and once you reach that point the german begins to make sense. No other series is like this. After using this thing properly for several weeks you will have a solid elementary understanding of german. Highly highly recommended to any beginner.

He is however a mother tongue speaker - he was born in germany to german jewish parents who fled during WWII. Its the French course thats a bit suspect.
