New Bcmsn (642-812) Report And Tips

Guys,

Just came back from the long 2.5 hours or BCMSNing.. Passed with a score of 901. Passing mark was 804. When I came out of the testing center I felt like I was raped by Cisco Here is the summary:

There were 61 Questions. 2 Sims on VTP and VLAN Basics (all from P4S and TK), 1 Scenario on STP where you find out Bridge IDs etc from "sh spanning-tree" command on one of the 4 switches. If you studied the latest TK and P4S you'll know which one it is

What was most unexpected is number of questions on Wireless!!! Honestly, there were at least 20-30 different questions on LWAPP, WLAN controllers, and APs. I've never seen most of the wireless questions on any of the "practice exams" even though I did P4S and TK 3 times and pretty much memorized every Q&A. There were also 5-10 new questions on QoS and IPTEL.


I don't know whether I guessed those wireless questions right or whether they did not count towards the final score.. Cisco does tell you in the beginning of the exam that some questions will be "experimental" and be indistinguishable from the real questions.

Anyways, my advice: STUDY YOUR WIRELESS!!!! If I knew about the number of wireless question on the exam, I would have read the entire wireless book in addition to the CCNP book. I'm sure that one day both TK and P4S will catch up to the content of the new 642-812, but until that day you should get your wireless, iptel and qos knowledge from additional sources.
