Randolph (1825-1875) was a highly learned, self-educated, African-American novelist and occultist whose most enduring claim to fame is the role he played in the transformation of occultism into spiritualism and the development of a system of magic which left its traces on Madame Blavatsky, her Theosophical Society, and occult organizations in Europe.
