The Empiricists represent the central tradition in British philosophy as well as some of the most important and influential thinkers in human history. Their ideas paved the way for modern thought from politics to science, ethics to religion. The British Empiricists is a wonderfully clear and concise introduction to the lives, careers and views of Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Mill, Russell and Ayer.
Stephen Priest examines each philosopher and their views on a wide range of topics including mind and matter, ethics and emotions, freedom and the physical world, language, truth and logic. The book is usefully arranged so that it can be read by thinker or by topic, or as a history of key philosophical problems. By the end of the book the reader will be equipped to:
* recognize and practice philosophical thinking
* understand the methods of solving philosophical problems used by the British Empiricists
* appreciate the role of empiricism in the history of Western philosophy.
For any student new to philosophy, Western philosophy or the British Empiricists, this masterly survey offers an accessible engaging introduction.

Can someone explain to me why on earth uploadbox and uploading are preferred over many other choices available out there?
What is the point of sharing when you upload the books to such hosts??
f_can: your question goes right to the point. Why bother to share when they are going to "share" like that? It's because holdemorg doesn't give a fuck about you or anybody else. S/he must have a grudge against Rapidshare (very ungenerous but extremely reliable), DepositFiles (very generous and without daily limit for the paying customer), Megaupload (one of the most generous that allows you to download a whole movie in big chunks without 1hr wait in between), etc, etc. So S/he decided that whatever she likes must be the way to "share". You see, that is just one of the stupidest ways of being selfish and ignorant.
alessandrovirtuale: Let us hope someone will post a megaupload/mediafire/rapidshare/depositfiles etc. mirror soon. Looks like, that's our only chance.
The Uploadbox mirror (id 513fb9xd551cx) seems to be non-existent. :-/
I have been coming here for 3 years and I have seen about 7 leading Filesharers come and go. That happens because the Filesharers offer bonuses to Uploaders who cause people to sign up. They are also paid for each download. I don't upload, but I remember putting 4 books up on a forum in China, which resulted in 4000 Rapidshare downloads. By Western terms, earnings are puny, and that is why uploaders are from the Third World.
As for Uploadbox: they are a joke. Hopefully, clients of same abandon the service. Uploading is a major player but their service is a joke. Buy Depositfiles, Filefactory, Rapidshare, Easyshare, etc and you get activation immediately. Uploading sends you an email promising same within "48 hours." Generally you wait over 200 hours before they activate, and that is after a credit card purchase. They don't post a legal office for their service; Rapidshare and Depositfiles provide same on demand.
The Uploaders have paid for Uploading.com so there is no going back, but when they decide to try another, they should check out these companies first. Send email enquiries, and if they take 2 weeks to reply, then they are hopeless. Rapidshare's customer service staff replies within a day.
Uploading's promises (reneged):
