Vashti Bunyan studierte zunchst Kunst, verlie die Akademie aber, um eine Karriere als Sngerin zu verfolgen. Stones-Manager Andrew Loog Oldham wollte sie als Nachfolgerin von Marianne Faithfull aufbauen, was misslang. Sie bewegte sich schlielich eher in Folk-Kreisen im Umfeld der Incredible String Band.

Ende der 1960er begab sich Bunyan auf eine Reise auf die ueren Hebriden, wo sie mit ihrem Mann auf einem Bauernhaus lebte. Zurck in London nahm sie ihr erstes Album, "Just another diamond day", auf. Das Album blieb ohne Erfolg und Bunyan kehrte dem Musik-Business den Rcken.

Ende der 1990er wurde die Raritt Just another diamond day zur berraschung der Knstlerin wiederverffentlicht. Nach einer musikalischen Pause von ber 30 Jahren trat Bunyan als Gastsngerin bei verschiedenen Independent-Projekten in Erscheinung: Piano Magic, Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective. Sie wurde von FatCat Records unter Vertrag genommen und verffentlichte nach 35 Jahren im Jahre 2005 ihr zweites Album, Lookaftering.


......Erst viel spter wurde die LP zum Kultobjekt und ist heute ein Sammlerstck Listenpreis: 350 englische Pfund.........
